How the Programme Works

Each cohort follows a structured, full-time programme refined based on real delivery outcomes.

The Clemios Academy provides structured engineering training for high-potential graduates entering the IT and embedded systems domain. Each cohort follows a defined curriculum covering foundational modules, advanced specialisations, international certifications, and supervised project work.

Cohort 1 and 2 were delivered in partnership with adorsys, a German technology company, covering Cloud Computing, DevOps, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Agile Methodologies. Clemios managed operations, logistics, and trainee support. Cohort 1 ran for 12 months; Cohort 2 was extended to 18 months after real-world deployment showed graduates needed more preparation time. All 49 graduates transitioned to full employment.

Cohort 2 was extended from 12 to 18 months. Deployment outcomes showed graduates needed more structured preparation before client projects. The curriculum was adjusted based on measured results, not marketing timelines.

For Cohort 3, Clemios will expand its role to training delivery partner, leading the Embedded Software Development track alongside adorsys and other German and Cameroonian industry partners. The Embedded track is designed to feed directly into eMobility integration projects, with training on OCPP 2.0.1 protocol implementation, MISRA C-compliant embedded C, and Ceedling-based test-driven development.

All trainees complete the full programme and pass internal assessment before being assigned to any project. No trainee is deployed during the training phase.

Cohort 3: 100 Trainees, 2026

100 trainees planned across 18 months of intensive training followed by a 6-month managed internship. The programme will be delivered by a consortium led by adorsys, Clemios, and SkyEngPro, in academic partnership with Université des Montagnes. Trainees will earn a minimum of 4 international certifications and a GIS diploma with academic credit towards a dual bachelor degree.

  • Cloud Computing and DevOps
  • Embedded Software Development (Clemios-led)
  • AI-Assisted Development
  • Data Science and MLOps
  • Cybersecurity and Agile Engineering

The full curriculum also covers Rust Programming, Blockchain Applications, Ethics and AI Safety, and Professional Technical English. Certification providers include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and LPI.

The Clemios-led Embedded Software Development track prepares graduates for eMobility integration projects: OCPP 2.0.1 protocol implementation (actively implemented by Clemios), MISRA C-compliant embedded C, and Ceedling-based test-driven development.

Since 2017: 300+ Youth Trained

Before Clemios, Merlin Tonka volunteered with organisations to train 300+ African youth in software development. The Clemios Academy builds on that foundation with structured, employment-focused engineering training, now specialising in eMobility and EV charging infrastructure. Clemios operates as a social enterprise building local engineering capacity for Africa's contribution to the green energy transition.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAMME DIFFERENT

Not a Bootcamp. A Structured Engineering Career Path.

Zero-Cost Residential Training

Full housing, meals, health insurance, and equipment provided free of charge in solar-powered centres in rural Banganté. All financial barriers to participation are removed.

Employment-First Model

Trainees are prepared for specific consortium employers. 18 months of training lead directly into a 6-month managed internship with a hiring partner. Pilot cohorts: 100% employed.

Dual Academic Pathway

The GIS diploma converts into credit points for a dual bachelor’s degree at Université des Montagnes. Graduates work and study simultaneously via blended learning.

Deep-Tech Curriculum

No frontend bootcamp content. Curriculum covers embedded systems, OCPP 2.0.1, MISRA C, Cloud Architecture, Rust, and AI-Assisted Development. All tracks aligned with German and EU engineering standards.

Designed to Counter Brain Drain

Engineers build careers within Cameroon while delivering high-value work for European clients. Priority outreach to conflict-affected Anglophone communities creates safe vocational pathways where none existed.

FOR DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS

Building Local Capacity for the Green Energy Transition

Investment in EV charging networks and vehicle imports accelerates infrastructure. Without trained local engineering teams to implement, test, and maintain these systems, infrastructure investment stalls at deployment. The Clemios Academy addresses this gap with structured, employment-focused eMobility engineering training in Cameroon, with priority outreach to youth from rural and conflict-affected Anglophone communities.

Training takes place in solar-powered centres in Banganté, where trainees receive full residential support: housing, meals, health insurance, and equipment. All financial and logistical barriers to participation are removed. The programme goes beyond standard IT training. Cohorts engage in intensive, hands-on technical work directly relevant to the EV charging industry:

  • EVSE Protocol Implementation OCPP 2.0.1 architecture, actively implemented by Clemios
  • Embedded Systems Engineering Firmware development for charging infrastructure
  • High-Reliability Software MISRA C compliance, Ceedling-based TDD
  • Cloud and DevOps CSMS environments, CI/CD pipelines
4 Training Centres Solar-powered, 28 kW installed capacity
Full Residential Support Housing, meals, health insurance, laptops
5+ Employer Partners German and Cameroonian companies in the consortium
Academic Pathway GIS diploma with dual bachelor via Université des Montagnes
49 Engineers trained
100% Employment rate
0% Delivery attrition
100 Cohort 3 target

The programme actively promotes women in deep-tech engineering roles and prioritises outreach to conflict-affected communities. Clemios combines technical capacity building with inclusive green job creation in Central Africa. All completers transition to active commercial projects with consortium employers.

Frequently Asked Questions

The programme duration has been refined based on real outcomes. Cohort 1 ran for 12 months. After observing that graduates needed more preparation time before working on real-world projects, Cohort 2 was extended to 18 months. Cohort 3 retains the 18-month training structure and adds a 6-month managed internship with consortium partners, for a planned total of 24 months.

The foundational curriculum covers Cloud Computing, DevOps, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Agile Methodologies. Advanced specialisations include Embedded Software Development, AI-Assisted Development, Data Science, and more. Each trainee earns a minimum of 4 international certifications.

Only after completing the full training programme and passing internal assessment. No trainee is assigned to a client project during the training phase.

Cohort 3 will be delivered by a consortium led by adorsys, Clemios, and SkyEngPro, with academic partnership from Université des Montagnes. Clemios leads the Embedded Software Development track.
